Possible Causes
Overloaded drum, Seized or stiff drum bearings, Faulty BLDC motor hall sensor, Shorted motor windings or inverter module
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before internal inspection. Do not continue running the machine if burning smell or smoke is present.
- 1. Reduce load: Remove some laundry and try a smaller, lighter load. Overloading can cause high motor current and trigger E8.
- 2. Check drum rotation by hand: With the washer unplugged, spin the drum manually. It should rotate smoothly. Grinding, scraping, or stiffness suggests bearing or foreign object issues that must be addressed before further use.
- 3. Inspect for foreign objects: Look between the inner drum and door gasket for trapped items (e.g., bra wires) that may drag on the drum.
- 4. Inspect motor and wiring (advanced): Remove the rear panel. Check the BLDC motor and wiring harness for damage, loose connectors, or signs of overheating. Reseat the motor connector.
- 5. Professional diagnosis: If E8 recurs with normal loads and free-spinning drum, the motor hall sensor, windings, or inverter control board may be faulty. These tests require a multimeter and knowledge of BLDC systems; contact a qualified technician.
