Possible Causes
Loose or broken drive belt (belted models), Faulty BLDC motor (direct drive or belt), Defective motor control module (inverter PCB), Damaged motor wiring harness
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer before removing any panels.
- Check for overload: Remove some laundry and try a spin-only cycle. Overloading can trigger E3 on some Hisense models.
- Inspect the belt (if applicable): Remove the rear panel. Verify the drive belt is on both the motor pulley and drum pulley and is not frayed or snapped. Refit or replace if loose or damaged.
- Check drum movement: Rotate the drum by hand. It should turn smoothly without grinding. Heavy resistance may indicate bearing or brake issues rather than motor failure.
- Inspect wiring: With power disconnected, check the motor connector and harness for burns, loose pins, or broken wires. Reseat connectors firmly.
- Advanced (technician level): Test motor windings with a multimeter for continuity and proper resistance. If windings are open/shorted, replace the motor. If motor tests good but E3 persists, the inverter/control board may be defective and should be replaced or serviced by a professional.
