Possible Causes
Unevenly distributed laundry, Single heavy item causing imbalance, Worn suspension rods or shock absorbers, Loose concrete counterweight
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Do not bypass safety systems. Unplug the washer if you need to access internal components.
- Redistribute load: Open the door when safe, remove some items, and rearrange the load evenly around the drum. Avoid washing a single heavy item (e.g., one bath mat) alone.
- Check leveling: Ensure the Hisense washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the front feet and lock the jam nuts. A rocking machine will trigger E4 more often.
- Run spin test: Select a spin-only program with a moderate load. If E4 no longer appears, the issue was load-related.
- Inspect suspension (advanced): If E4 occurs even with balanced loads, unplug the washer, remove the top and rear panels, and inspect the shock absorbers and suspension rods for oil leakage, cracks, or detachment. Replace worn components.
- Check counterweights: Verify that the concrete or cast-iron counterweights on the tub are tight. Tighten mounting bolts if loose.
