Washer does not fill with water or fills very slowly; E02 appears on the display after a few minutes.

Safety first: Unplug the washer and close the water taps before disconnecting hoses.

• Check household water supply: Ensure the cold (and hot, if used) water taps feeding the SMEG washer are fully open and that other taps in the house have normal pressure.
• Clean inlet filters: Turn off taps, disconnect the inlet hoses from the back of the machine, and inspect the small mesh filters inside the valve inlets. Rinse them under running water and remove any grit or limescale with a soft brush.
• Inspect hoses: Check that the inlet hoses are not kinked, crushed, or frozen. Straighten or replace as needed.
• Test a fill cycle: Reconnect hoses, open taps, restore power, and start a quick wash. If E02 returns and filling is still slow or absent, the inlet valve may be faulty.
• Check pressure switch and hose (advanced): Remove the top cover, locate the pressure switch and its thin rubber hose. Ensure the hose is not split, kinked, or blocked with detergent residue. Clean or replace as necessary.

If cleaning filters and verifying supply does not resolve the issue, replacing the water inlet valve assembly is usually required. Persistent E02 after valve replacement may indicate a faulty pressure switch or main control board, which should be checked by a technician.
