Possible Causes
Severely unbalanced laundry load, Worn or broken suspension shock absorbers, Faulty drum balance sensor (if fitted), Excessive friction from failing bearings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep hands clear of the drum while the machine is powered.
- Redistribute the load: Pause the cycle, open the door (once unlocked), and redistribute the laundry evenly around the drum. Avoid washing a single heavy item (e.g., one bath mat) alone.
- Reduce load size: Remove some items if the drum is tightly packed. Overloading can prevent proper spin balancing.
- Check machine level: Ensure the SMEG washer is level front-to-back and side-to-side. Adjust the front feet and lock nuts as needed.
- Inspect suspension (advanced): With the machine unplugged, press down on the drum from the top and release. It should bounce once or twice and settle. Excessive bouncing or knocking suggests worn shock absorbers that should be replaced.
If E07 occurs frequently even with balanced loads and a level machine, internal suspension or bearing issues should be inspected by a technician.
