Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and allow the machine to cool before working near the heater area.
- Access NTC sensor: Remove the rear panel. The NTC is usually clipped into the heater bracket or inserted into the tub wall near the heater.
- Check connection: Ensure the NTC plug is fully seated and free of corrosion or moisture.
- Test NTC (qualified persons): Disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare with SMEG service specifications. Replace if readings are out of range or unstable.
If the NTC tests correctly but E12 persists, the main control board may not be reading the sensor correctly and may require replacement by a technician.
