Possible Causes

Seized drum bearings increasing load, Shorted motor windings, Jammed drum due to foreign object, Faulty motor triac on PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the washer before checking the drum or motor.

  • Check drum rotation: Spin the drum by hand. If it is very stiff, grinds, or feels rough, the bearings may be failing or a foreign object may be trapped between drum and tub.
  • Inspect for obstructions: Look through the drum holes with a torch for bra wires or other objects. Remove the heater (if accessible) to inspect the gap between drum and tub.
  • Check motor and belt: Remove the rear panel and ensure the belt is correctly fitted and not jammed. Inspect the motor for burning smell or visible damage.

If the mechanical system is free and E16 persists, the motor or PCB may be drawing excessive current and should be tested by a technician.
