Possible Causes
Torn or worn door gasket, Foreign object trapped between door seal and drum, Loose door seal retaining band, Excessive suds causing foam overflow
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer and turn off water supply before inspection.
- Inspect door gasket: Open the door and carefully examine the rubber seal all around for cuts, holes, or heavy wear. Pay attention to the bottom area where leaks often start.
- Remove foreign objects: Check the fold of the gasket for coins, bra wires, or other debris and remove them.
- Check retaining bands: Ensure the outer and inner metal or wire bands holding the gasket to the front panel and tub are tight and correctly seated.
- Reduce detergent: If you see excessive foam, use high-efficiency detergent and reduce the dose according to SMEG's recommendations.
If the gasket is damaged, it must be replaced. This involves removing the front retaining band, fitting the new seal, and refitting both inner and outer bands.
