Possible Causes
Worn or leaking shock absorbers, Broken or stretched suspension springs, Transit bolts not removed on new installation, Machine not level on floor
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Keep clear of the machine while it is spinning. Unplug before adjustments.
- Check installation: Confirm that all transit bolts at the rear of a newly installed SMEG washer have been removed according to the installation manual.
- Level the machine: Adjust the front feet so the washer is stable and does not rock. Tighten lock nuts to secure the feet.
- Inspect suspension: With the top cover removed and power off, press down on the drum and release. Excessive bouncing or metallic knocking suggests worn shocks or springs that should be replaced.
- Load correctly: Avoid overloading and ensure mixed loads (heavy and light items) to improve balance.
If vibration remains severe after these steps, internal suspension components should be replaced by a technician.
