Possible Causes
Stuck door lock mechanism, Faulty door lock solenoid, Broken door handle or latch, Control board not sending unlock signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the washer. Do not force the door open with tools, as this can damage the seal and glass.
- 1. Wait for automatic release: Some Toshiba models delay unlocking for 1–3 minutes after cycle end. Ensure the drum has fully stopped.
- 2. Use emergency release (if equipped): Many front-loaders have a manual release cord near the door lock, accessible through the pump filter door or lower front panel. Pull gently to unlock the door.
- 3. Inspect the door lock: Once open, remove the door lock assembly and check for mechanical binding or burnt contacts. Clean light debris and test operation.
- 4. Test the lock electrically: Use a multimeter to check the lock coil and switch contacts. Replace the lock if readings are out of spec.
- 5. Check control board output: If the lock is good but does not receive voltage to unlock, the main PCB may be faulty and should be serviced by a technician.
