Possible Causes
Faulty motor tachometer (Hall sensor), Loose tachometer connector, Damaged motor magnet ring, Inverter/control board fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power and avoid rotating the drum by hand while working on the motor.
- 1. Access the motor: Remove the rear panel to expose the drive motor. On direct-drive Toshiba models, the Hall sensor is mounted on the stator.
- 2. Inspect the sensor and wiring: Check the Hall sensor connector and wiring harness for damage or loose fit. Reseat the connector.
- 3. Check the tachometer magnet: Ensure the rotor magnet ring is intact and not cracked or loose. A damaged ring can cause erratic speed signals.
- 4. Test the Hall sensor: Using a multimeter and following Toshiba service data, verify that the sensor outputs changing signals when the motor is rotated slowly by hand.
- 5. Replace faulty components: If the sensor or magnet is defective, replace the motor Hall sensor assembly or rotor. If these are good but E13 persists, the inverter or main PCB may need replacement by a technician.
