Possible Causes

Excessive laundry load, Uneven distribution of heavy items, Worn suspension rods or dampers, Faulty unbalance sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Press pause and wait for the drum to stop before opening the door or lid.

  • 1. Reduce the load: Remove some items if the drum is tightly packed. Toshiba washers require space for clothes to tumble; fill only about 2/3 full.
  • 2. Redistribute the laundry: Spread heavy items (like towels or blankets) evenly around the drum. Avoid washing a single heavy item alone; add a few smaller items to balance the load.
  • 3. Check machine leveling: Ensure the washer is on a solid, level surface. Adjust the front and rear leveling feet so the cabinet does not rock. Lock the feet with the jam nuts.
  • 4. Inspect suspension components: For top-loaders, check suspension rods and springs for wear or breakage. For front-loaders, inspect shock absorbers and tub springs for oil leakage or looseness. Replace worn components.
  • 5. Reset and test: After correcting the load and leveling, restart the spin cycle. If E3 recurs with normal loads, the unbalance sensor or control board may need professional diagnosis.
