Possible Causes

Blocked pressure hose, Faulty water level sensor, Air leak in pressure hose, Control board sensing circuit fault

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before opening the top or rear panel.

  • 1. Locate the pressure sensor: On Toshiba washers, the water level sensor is usually mounted near the top of the cabinet with a small rubber hose running down to the tub or air dome.
  • 2. Inspect the pressure hose: Remove the hose from the sensor and tub connection. Blow gently through it to ensure it is clear. Check for pinholes, cracks, or kinks. Replace the hose if damaged.
  • 3. Clean the air dome: At the tub end, ensure the air chamber is not clogged with detergent residue or lint. Use a small brush and warm water to clear any blockage.
  • 4. Test the sensor: With a multimeter, check the sensor according to the Toshiba service manual (resistance or voltage change when pressure is applied). If readings are out of range or unstable, replace the sensor.
  • 5. Reassemble and test: Reconnect the hose securely, reassemble panels, and run a test cycle to verify correct filling and that the E5 code is cleared.

If the error remains, the main PCB water level circuit may be defective and requires professional service.
