Possible Causes
Dirty or misaligned flame sensor, Faulty ionization electrode, Poor burner grounding, Defective main PCB flame detection circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Switch off power and close the gas valve before opening the casing.
- 1. Visual inspection: Remove the front panel and locate the ionization (flame) electrode on the burner assembly. Look for soot, oxidation, or damage.
- 2. Clean the electrode: Gently clean the metal rod with fine abrasive pad. Avoid damaging the ceramic insulator. Reinstall ensuring the electrode tip is in the flame path as specified in the Ferroli service manual.
- 3. Check grounding: Confirm the burner and chassis have a solid earth connection. Tighten any loose ground wires or screws on the burner frame.
- 4. Inspect wiring harness: Check the cable from the flame sensor to the PCB for cuts, burns, or loose connectors. Reseat the connector on the PCB.
- 5. Professional diagnosis: If A02 persists, a technician should test flame rectification current and, if necessary, replace the ionization electrode or main PCB.
If you are not comfortable working near gas components, contact a Ferroli-authorized service center.
