Possible Causes
Blocked air intake screen, Restricted combustion air opening, Debris in intake pipe, Faulty air intake sensor (if equipped)
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before inspecting air and vent systems.
- Locate air intake: On many GSW power vent models, the blower assembly has an intake screen or the unit uses a two-pipe system (intake and exhaust). Remove any front grille or cover as needed.
- Clean intake screen: Vacuum dust, pet hair, and debris from the intake screen and surrounding area. Wash the screen with mild soap and water if removable; dry completely before reinstalling.
- Check combustion air openings: Ensure the heater has adequate clearance from walls and that louvered doors or grills supplying air are not blocked.
- Inspect intake piping (if two-pipe): Follow the intake pipe to the outside termination. Remove obstructions such as leaves, nests, or snow. Confirm all joints are intact and not collapsed.
- Sensor check: If the model uses an intake temperature or pressure sensor, verify the wiring is intact. A failed sensor should be replaced with the correct GSW part if cleaning and clearing do not resolve E006.
