Possible Causes
Pressure switch stuck closed, Shorted pressure switch wiring, Control board logic fault, Incorrect vent slope causing water accumulation
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas. Do not operate the heater with a suspected venting fault.
- Inspect pressure switch: Locate the round pressure switch near the blower. Disconnect the tubing and wiring. Gently tap the switch body to free a stuck diaphragm.
- Check tubing and vent for water: Remove the tubing and check for water. Drain any condensate from low spots in the vent and correct vent slope to ensure proper drainage.
- Test switch continuity (advanced): With no call for heat and no blower running, the switch should be open. If it reads closed, replace the pressure switch with a GSW-approved part.
- Wiring inspection: Look for shorted or crossed wires between the pressure switch and control board. Repair as needed.
- Control board: If a new switch behaves the same and wiring is correct, the control board may be misreading the signal and should be replaced by a technician.
