GSW electronic gas water heater shows E014 and the burner will not light after the tank has been drained and refilled

Safety: Ensure the tank is completely full of water before attempting to fire. Never operate a water heater dry.

• Verify full tank: Open a hot water tap at the highest fixture in the home. Allow water to run until all air sputtering stops and a steady stream flows.
• Reset control: Turn the gas control to OFF for 5 minutes, then back to ON or PILOT as per GSW instructions. On electronic models, cycle power to reset the logic.
• Check temperature sensor: If the sensor is not immersed properly (e.g., not fully inserted into the well), it may misread. Re-seat the sensor.
• Professional help: If E014 persists even with a full tank and correct sensor placement, the control may be faulty and require replacement.
