Possible Causes
Temporary overheat condition, Loose thermostat mounting, Air pocket around sensor, Faulty ECO switch
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power at the breaker before removing covers.
- Reset ECO: Remove the upper access panel and insulation. Press the red reset button on the upper thermostat until it clicks.
- Check thermostat contact: Ensure the thermostat is firmly against the tank surface. Re-secure if it has pulled away.
- Bleed air: Open a hot water tap to remove trapped air that can cause localized overheating.
- Monitor operation: Restore power and allow the heater to run. If the ECO trips again, a thermostat or element may be faulty and should be tested and replaced.
