Possible Causes
Blocked combustion air intake, Collapsed or kinked intake pipe, Dirty intake screen on blower, Negative pressure in mechanical room
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Turn off power and gas before inspecting venting and intake components.
- 1. Check intake termination: At the exterior intake hood, remove any screens or covers and clean out debris, leaves, or insect nests.
- 2. Inspect intake piping: Follow the intake pipe from the heater to the outside. Look for kinks, sags filled with water, or crushed sections. Repair or replace damaged sections.
- 3. Clean intake screen: Many John Wood blowers have a mesh screen at the air inlet. Remove dust and lint with a soft brush and vacuum.
- 4. Room air supply: If the heater draws air from the room, ensure there is adequate combustion air. Open louvered doors or add combustion air openings as per code.
- 5. Reset and test: After restoring proper airflow, reset the control and verify stable operation without E008 returning.
