Possible Causes
Damaged valve cover O-ring, Cracked valve body, Loose plumbing fittings, Leaking injector cap or brine fitting
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Bypass the softener and relieve pressure before tightening or removing any fittings.
- Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water first appears: around the valve cover, injector cap, or plumbing connections.
- Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any loose NPT or compression fittings on the inlet, outlet, and brine connections. Do not overtighten plastic threads.
- Replace O-rings: If water seeps from the seam between the valve cover and body, replace the valve cover O-ring using an Autotrol seal kit.
- Inspect injector cap: Remove and inspect the injector cap and its O-ring. Replace if cracked or flattened.
- Cracked body: If the valve body is cracked (often from freezing), the entire Autotrol control valve body may need replacement.
