Possible Causes
Jammed piston or rotor-disc, Stripped cam gear, Failed drive motor, Control board not advancing cycle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately place the valve in bypass to restore water to the home, then disconnect power and relieve pressure.
- Inspect drive assembly: Remove the control cover and check the camshaft, gears, and motor. Look for broken gears or a seized cam.
- Check piston/rotor-disc: Remove the Autotrol valve module and inspect the piston or rotor-disc and seal pack for swelling, scoring, or debris. Replace if damaged.
- Test motor: With the cam disconnected, power the motor during a manual regeneration command. Replace the drive motor if it does not turn.
- Control board: If the motor and mechanics are good but the valve does not advance, replace the electronic control board.
- Reassemble and test: After repair, run a full regeneration and confirm the valve returns to service.
