Display shows “Lo Br” or “Low Brine” and softening performance is poor

Safety: Bypass the softener and depressurize before disconnecting brine lines.

• Check brine level: After a regeneration, the brine tank should contain a specific water level. If it is too low or empty, inspect the brine refill flow control and refill valve in the Autotrol head for blockage.
• Clean refill flow control: Remove the refill flow control orifice and clean any debris or scale. Rinse and reinstall.
• Inspect brine line and fittings: Check for loose fittings, cracks, or air leaks in the brine line that could prevent proper refill. Replace damaged brine tubing and fittings.
• Test refill function: Manually start a regeneration and observe the brine tank during the refill step. Confirm that water enters the tank at the expected rate. If not, replace the brine refill valve assembly or the entire brine valve kit.
