Display shows “PF” or “Power Fail” and time-of-day is flashing

Safety: Ensure hands are dry when working with electrical plugs.

• Restore power: Confirm the outlet has power and the transformer is plugged in securely.
• Reset time: Set the correct time-of-day on the Autotrol control. Other settings are usually retained.
• Check for recurring outages: If “PF” appears frequently, test the outlet and transformer. Replace the 24 VAC transformer if it intermittently loses output.
• Use surge/battery backup: Consider a small UPS or surge protector to stabilize power to the softener.
