Possible Causes
Salt bridge forming a hard crust above water, Fine salt or rock salt causing mushing, High humidity in installation area
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit. Wear gloves when working in the brine tank.
- Probe for bridge: Gently push a broom handle down into the salt. If you feel a hollow space under a hard crust, a salt bridge is present.
- Break bridge: Carefully break up the crust without damaging the tank. Remove large chunks if necessary.
- Remove mush: Scoop out any thick, slushy salt mush at the bottom and replace with fresh, high-purity pellets.
- Prevent recurrence: Keep the Clearwater brine tank no more than 2/3 full and store salt in a dry area.
After clearing the bridge, run a manual regeneration to restore proper brining.
