Possible Causes

Failed Clearwater drive motor, Jammed rotor-disc in control valve, Broken motor coupling or drive gear, Control board not sending power to motor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Disconnect power before removing the control valve cover. Water may discharge if you manually move the valve; keep a towel handy.

  • Listen for motor: With power on and a regeneration started, place your ear near the Clearwater control head. If you hear no motor noise at all, suspect the drive motor or board.
  • Inspect for mechanical jam: Unplug the unit. Remove the front cover of the Clearwater control valve. Look for broken plastic gears, foreign objects, or misaligned rotor-disc.
  • Check motor connection: Verify the motor harness is firmly plugged into the control board and that no wires are pinched or corroded.
  • Test manual advance: Using the manual regeneration knob (if equipped), gently rotate the valve through cycles. If it binds or will not move, the rotor-disc or seal pack may be seized.
  • Replace motor if needed: If the valve turns freely by hand but never moves under power, replace the Clearwater drive motor assembly following the service manual.

If you are not comfortable working around pressurized water and live circuits, contact a qualified Clearwater service technician.
