Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the power adapter from the wall before inspecting wiring. Do not work on live electrical parts.
- Check outlet: Plug a lamp or tester into the same outlet to confirm it has stable power.
- Inspect adapter: Verify you are using the original Clearwater 24V (or model-specific) adapter. Check for damage, frayed cable, or a warm/burnt smell. Replace if suspect.
- Secure connections: Remove the control head cover and ensure the low-voltage plug from the adapter is fully seated on the Clearwater control board.
- Avoid shared heavy loads: Move the adapter to a dedicated outlet not shared with pumps, freezers, or large motors that can cause dips.
- Reset controller: After securing power, unplug for 2 minutes, then reconnect. If E04 persists, the internal power supply on the board may be failing.
Board-level repairs should be done by a professional; in most cases the Clearwater main control board is replaced as a unit.
