Possible Causes
Faulty Clearwater position switch or encoder, Misaligned rotor-disc, Broken cam gear, Obstruction inside control valve preventing full travel
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the softener and close the inlet valve to stop water flow before opening the valve body.
- Inspect position sensor: Remove the control head cover and locate the position switch or encoder on the Clearwater valve. Ensure it is firmly mounted and the wiring harness is intact.
- Check cam and gears: Observe the cam gear and drive gears for missing teeth or cracks. Replace damaged gears.
- Realign rotor-disc: With the valve depressurized, remove the top cover and gently reseat the rotor-disc and seal pack according to the Clearwater service diagram. Ensure the disc is centered and not warped.
- Clear debris: Look for resin beads or foreign material lodged in the valve ports that could block movement. Flush and clean as needed.
- Reassemble and test: Reinstall covers, open the inlet slowly, and restore power. Initiate a manual regeneration and watch for proper cycling without E07.
If E07 persists, the position sensor or main control board may require replacement.
