Excessive Regeneration / Programming Fault
E13 displayed and the unit indicates excessive regeneration frequency or salt usage.

Possible Causes
Hardness setting too high, Capacity setting too low, Incorrect resin volume programmed, Flow meter miscalibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Programming changes do not require power removal, but avoid making changes during an active regeneration.
- Verify actual hardness: Use a reliable hardness test kit on raw water and compare to the value programmed into the Clearwater controller. Adjust if significantly higher than actual.
- Check capacity: Ensure the programmed capacity matches the Clearwater resin tank size (e.g., 32,000 grains for a 1.0 cu ft unit) and salt dose.
- Review meter factor: In installer settings, confirm the meter K-factor or pulses-per-gallon matches the installed Clearwater flow meter.
- Monitor usage: After adjustments, track regeneration frequency for a week. E13 should clear once usage aligns with expected values.
If the unit still regenerates excessively, the flow meter may be over-counting and should be inspected or replaced.
