Possible Causes
Regeneration lockout time window misprogrammed, Vacation mode enabled, Flow meter not registering usage, Control board logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No plumbing work is required for programming checks. Do not interrupt an active regeneration.
- Check vacation mode: Ensure the Clearwater controller is not in vacation or bypass mode. Disable any vacation setting.
- Review regen time window: In installer settings, confirm that regeneration is allowed daily and not restricted to days that never occur (e.g., only day 7 with day override off).
- Verify meter operation: Run water and confirm the display shows flow and remaining capacity decreasing.
- Force a manual regen: Start a manual regeneration to restore softening capacity, then monitor if automatic cycles resume.
If E14 persists and programming is correct, the Clearwater control board may need replacement.
