Possible Causes
Blocked drain hose, Kinked or elevated drain line, Clogged flow control or injector in Foridra valve head, Frozen or restricted drain termination
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power to the Foridra softener. Close the inlet valve and place the system in bypass to avoid flooding while working on the drain line.
- Inspect drain hose routing: Follow the drain hose from the Foridra control valve to its termination. Remove kinks, sharp bends, or sagging loops that can trap air or debris. Ensure the end is not submerged in standing water.
- Check for clogs: Detach the drain hose from the valve head and blow through it or flush with water. If restricted, clean or replace the hose.
- Clean flow control/injector: On Foridra valve heads, the drain flow control and injector assembly are usually behind a small cap. Remove the cap, pull out the injector and flow control, soak in vinegar to dissolve scale, rinse thoroughly, and reinstall in the correct orientation.
- Check for freezing: In unheated spaces, ensure the drain line is not frozen. Thaw gently with warm towels; do not use open flame.
- Test regeneration: Return the unit from bypass, open the inlet slowly, restore power, and manually start a regeneration cycle. If E02 reappears, the internal valve rotor or motor may be failing.
