Possible Causes
Failed Foridra valve motor, Jammed rotor disc in control valve, Broken cam gear, Faulty position switch or encoder on valve head
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power and close the inlet valve. Place the Foridra softener in bypass before removing the valve cover.
- Remove control cover: Take off the plastic cover on the Foridra valve head to expose the motor and gear train.
- Inspect for obstructions: Look for broken plastic pieces, debris, or salt creep interfering with the cam or rotor. Gently clear any obstructions.
- Check motor connection: Ensure the motor wiring harness is firmly plugged into the control board. Look for burnt or loose connectors.
- Test manual rotation: With water off and pressure relieved, use a screwdriver on the manual advance shaft (if provided) to gently rotate the valve through positions. If it binds or will not move, the rotor/seal pack is likely seized.
- Replace motor if needed: If the valve rotates freely by hand but the motor does not move when powered, replace the Foridra valve motor assembly.
- Reset error: After reassembly, restore water and power, then perform a manual regeneration to confirm normal operation.
