Possible Causes
Clogged venturi injector, Blocked brine line, Stuck brine valve, Air leak at brine line fittings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Bypass the softener and depressurize by opening a nearby faucet. Disconnect power to the controller.
Check brine draw:
- Ensure the brine tank has adequate water and salt. If the tank is dry or overfilled, correct this first.
- Inspect the brine line from the control valve to the brine tank for kinks, pinches, or leaks.
- Remove the brine line at the valve and check the fitting and O-ring for damage or salt buildup.
Clean the injector/venturi:
- Locate the injector/venturi assembly on the Kinetico control valve (often under a cap labeled INJECTOR or BRINE).
- Carefully remove the cap and pull out the injector nozzle and throat pieces.
- Soak the parts in warm water with a small amount of vinegar to dissolve iron or scale. Use a soft brush or toothpick to clear small orifices—do not enlarge them.
- Inspect and clean the injector screen and any check balls or seats.
- Reassemble with clean O-rings lubricated with silicone grease.
Test:
- Return the bypass to SERVICE and restore power.
- Initiate a manual regeneration and observe the brine line in brine draw stage. You should see or feel suction at the brine line.
- If there is still no draw, the brine valve or internal valve seals may be faulty and require professional service.
