Lo Salt
Display shows “Lo Salt” or “Low Salt” warning and unit may not regenerate effectively if ignored.
Low Salt Level in Brine Tank
No Regen
Display indicates “No Regen” or similar message and the unit has not regenerated for an extended period.
Regeneration Inhibit / Lockout Condition
Service
Display shows “Service” or wrench icon and softener may continue to operate but indicates a fault condition.
General Service Required Indicator
Symptom
Brine tank overfills with water, sometimes to the top of the tank, and may overflow onto the floor.
Brine Tank Overfill
Symptom
Kinetico softener causes air spurting from faucets after regeneration.
Air in Plumbing After Regeneration
Symptom
Kinetico softener continuously drains a small stream of water even when not regenerating.
Continuous Drain Flow in Service Mode
Symptom
Kinetico softener makes unusual grinding, clicking, or squealing noises during regeneration.
Abnormal Mechanical Noise from Control Head
Symptom
Kinetico softener will not start after a power outage; display is blank or unresponsive.
No Power to Controller After Outage
Symptom
Kinetico softener’s brine tank has a thick, mushy sludge at the bottom and salt does not dissolve properly.
Salt Mushing / Brine Tank Sludge
Symptom
Kinetico softener’s bypass valve is hard to turn or stuck.
Stiff or Seized Bypass Valve
Symptom
Kinetico softener’s controller display is dim, flickering, or unreadable.
Display / LCD Failure
Symptom
Kinetico twin-tank softener remains on one tank and never switches to the other tank.
Tank Switching Failure (Twin Alternating System)
Symptom
Noticeable drop in water pressure or flow at faucets after the Kinetico softener.
Low Water Pressure / Flow Restriction
Symptom
Salt level in the brine tank does not go down over time, even though the unit appears to regenerate.
Salt Not Being Used / No Brine Make or Draw
Symptom
Softener does not draw brine from the brine tank during regeneration; water level in brine tank never goes down.
No Brine Draw
Symptom
Softener does not regenerate at all; no sound or movement from the control head over several days.
No Regeneration – Mechanical Metered System
Symptom
Softener regenerates too frequently, sometimes multiple times per day, wasting salt and water.
Excessive Regeneration Frequency
Symptom
Water has a metallic or rusty taste and orange/brown staining appears despite having a Kinetico softener.
