Kinetico
Insufficient Capacity / Under-Sized or Misprogrammed System
Water is soft at first but becomes hard before the next regeneration is due.

Possible Causes
Hardness setting too low, High water usage not accounted for, Incorrect meter size or capacity setting, Resin bed partially fouled reducing capacity
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: No immediate hazard; adjustments are made at the controller.
Check usage and settings:
- Review your household water usage (number of occupants, high-use appliances).
- Enter the controller programming and verify hardness and capacity settings. Increase hardness setting if your actual hardness is higher than programmed.
Monitor performance:
- After adjusting settings, run a manual regeneration.
- Test water hardness daily before regeneration is due to confirm that softening capacity now lasts the full interval.
Resolution: If capacity is still insufficient even with correct settings, the system may be undersized for your usage or the resin may be partially fouled. Consult a Kinetico dealer about upgrading tank size or replacing resin.
