Water has a plastic or chemical taste after installation of a new Kinetico softener.

Safety first: While usually harmless, avoid drinking water that has a strong chemical taste until flushed.

Flush system:

• Run cold water at multiple faucets for at least 20–30 minutes to flush the new system.
• Run a manual regeneration to fully rinse the resin bed.

Monitor:

• The taste should diminish over several days of normal use.

Resolution: If taste persists beyond a week, contact your Kinetico dealer to check for improper materials or contamination.
