Possible Causes

Failed salt level sensor, Corroded sensor contacts, Disconnected sensor wiring, Heavy salt bridging blocking sensor

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the controller before working near electrical connections. Wear gloves when handling salt.

Check the brine tank:

  • Open the brine tank lid and inspect for a salt bridge (a hard crust of salt above an empty space). Tap the side of the tank with a rubber mallet; if it sounds hollow, a bridge is likely.
  • Use a broom handle or similar tool to gently break up the salt bridge, being careful not to damage the brine well or float assembly.
  • Ensure the float/brine well area is free of salt chunks and debris.

Inspect the sensor:

  • Locate the salt level sensor (often mounted in the brine well or on the side of the tank).
  • Disconnect the sensor wiring harness and inspect for corrosion or moisture. Dry and clean contacts if needed.
  • Check that the sensor is mounted at the correct height and not bent or obstructed by salt.

Test and reset:

  • Reconnect the sensor harness and restore power.
  • Follow the controller instructions to clear the error or recalibrate the salt sensor if applicable.
  • If Err 06 persists, the sensor is likely defective and should be replaced.
