ERR 08 on display; softener may not detect salt level or may show incorrect salt alarm status.

Safety: Unplug the unit before working with electrical connections. Wear gloves when handling salt.

• Check sensor wiring: Locate the salt level sensor or brine tank probe and follow its cable to the control head. Ensure connectors are fully seated and wires are not cut or pinched.
• Inspect sensor: Remove the sensor from the brine tank. Clean off salt crust or sludge with warm water and a soft brush. Do not use harsh chemicals.
• Check for salt bridge: Look for a hard crust of salt spanning the tank above the water level. Break it up with a broom handle, being careful not to damage the tank or float assembly.
• Programming: Verify in the installer menu that the correct salt sensor option is selected (if your Pentair controller supports multiple sensor types).
• Replace sensor: If the error persists and wiring is intact, replace the Pentair salt level sensor / brine tank probe.
