Display shows ERR SALT or SALT SENSOR ERROR; salt level reading is erratic or stuck.

Safety: Disconnect power before unplugging or plugging any sensor cables.

• Visual inspection: Remove the brine tank lid and inspect the salt sensor wiring and connector. Clean any corrosion and ensure a tight fit.
• Check configuration: In the installer menu, verify that the salt sensor feature is enabled only if a sensor is installed, and that the correct sensor type is selected.
• Continuity test: With the sensor unplugged, measure resistance across its terminals. An infinite or zero reading (depending on sensor type) may indicate failure. Compare to Pentair service specs.
• Bypass test: Temporarily disable the salt sensor feature in programming (if allowed). If ERR SALT disappears, the sensor is likely faulty.
• Replace sensor or board: Replace the Pentair salt level sensor if defective. If a new sensor still triggers ERR SALT, replace the Pentair electronic control board.
