Softener makes loud banging or hammering noises during regeneration.

Safety: No internal electrical work is required; ensure plumbing work is done with water off and pressure relieved.

• Check pressure: Measure house water pressure. If above 80 psi, install or adjust a pressure reducing valve.
• Secure piping: Add or tighten pipe clamps and supports near the softener to reduce movement.
• Install hammer arrestor: Add a water hammer arrestor on the softener inlet line if banging occurs when the valve shifts cycles.
• Drain line sizing: Ensure the drain line is the correct diameter and not excessively long or restricted, which can cause surging.
