Possible Causes
Failed drive motor, Jammed rotor disc, Faulty valve position switch, Control board not advancing cycle
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Place the unit in bypass to restore water to the home before servicing. Disconnect power and relieve pressure.
- Bypass unit: Move the Pentair bypass valve to BYPASS so the home has water while you troubleshoot.
- Inspect motor and cam: Remove the control head cover and check if the motor is attempting to turn. Look for broken gears or a seized rotor disc.
- Manual advance: Use the manual regeneration knob or slot to move the valve back to the SERVICE position. If it cannot be moved, the internal seals/rotor may be damaged.
- Electrical checks: Test the motor and position switch as described in the ERR 01/ERR 02 procedures. Replace the Pentair drive motor or valve position switch as needed.
- Board replacement: If mechanics are good but the board does not energize the motor, replace the Pentair electronic control board.
