Possible Causes
Worn or cut drain seal, Debris on drain seat, Misaligned rotor/piston, Cracked Pentair valve body at drain port
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Place the unit in BYPASS and relieve pressure before opening the valve. Be prepared for water discharge from the drain line.
- Confirm continuous flow: Observe the drain line with the unit in SERVICE. A steady stream indicates internal leakage.
- Inspect rotor and seals: Remove the control head and disassemble the rotor/piston and seal pack. Look for cuts or deformation at the drain port area.
- Clean seat: Remove any debris or scale from the drain seat in the valve body.
- Rebuild valve: Install a new Pentair seal and spacer kit and, if worn, a new Pentair rotor/piston assembly.
- Test: Reassemble, pressurize, and check the drain line. There should be no flow during normal service.
