Possible Causes
Leaking brine valve, Clogged brine line causing slow drain-back, Defective brine safety float, Incorrect refill setting too high
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Put the softener in bypass and unplug it to stop further filling.
- 1. Check refill setting: Verify the brine refill time or volume is correctly programmed for your RainSoft model.
- 2. Inspect brine valve: Remove and inspect the brine valve for debris or wear that could prevent full closure. Replace if it leaks when de-energized.
- 3. Clean brine line: Flush the brine line to ensure it is not partially blocked, which can cause slow equalization and apparent overfill.
- 4. Service safety float: Clean and test the brine safety float to ensure it shuts off water at the correct level.
Note: Persistent overfill after these steps may indicate a control valve internal leak and require valve service.
