Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Place the unit in bypass to restore normal pressure temporarily. Depressurize before opening the tank or valve.
- 1. Confirm softener is cause: With the RainSoft bypass in Bypass, check if house pressure returns to normal. If yes, the restriction is inside the softener.
- 2. Inspect internal screens: Remove the control valve from the resin tank (follow manual). Check the bottom distributor screen and top basket for iron sludge or resin fines. Clean or replace as needed.
- 3. Check riser tube: Ensure the riser tube is straight, not cracked, and properly seated in the valve and bottom distributor.
- 4. Evaluate resin condition: If resin is heavily fouled with iron or appears mushy, it may be restricting flow and should be replaced.
Resolution: After cleaning or replacing components, reassemble and test flow. Persistent E15 may require a full resin rebed and distributor replacement.
