Brine Tank Salt Level Sensor Fault
E17 error, salt level sensor alarm or inaccurate salt level reading
Advertisements
Possible Causes
Stuck float-type salt sensor, Fouled optical/ultrasonic sensor, Broken sensor wiring, Sensor out of calibration
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before working inside the brine tank.
- 1. Access sensor: Open the brine tank lid and locate the salt level sensor (float rod, optical eye, or ultrasonic head depending on model).
- 2. Clean sensor: Remove salt crust, sludge, and moisture from the sensor surfaces. For float sensors, ensure the float moves freely along its rod.
- 3. Check mounting height: Verify the sensor is mounted at the correct height per RainSoft specifications. Adjust if it has slipped.
- 4. Inspect wiring: Follow the sensor cable to the control head and reseat the connector.
Resolution: If cleaning and reseating do not clear E17, replace the RainSoft salt level sensor assembly.
