Possible Causes
Fouled or compacted resin, Plugged top basket or bottom distributor, Resin fines clogging screens, Undersized plumbing connections
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Bypass and depressurize the system before removing the control valve.
- 1. Confirm restriction: With the unit in bypass, verify normal pressure. In service, note the pressure drop.
- 2. Inspect internal screens: Remove the valve and check the top basket and bottom distributor for resin fines and debris. Clean or replace as needed.
- 3. Evaluate resin: If resin is heavily fouled or clumped, consider performing a resin cleaning with an approved cleaner or replacing the resin entirely.
- 4. Check plumbing size: Ensure inlet/outlet plumbing matches the RainSoft valve size and is not necked down unnecessarily.
