Possible Causes
Failed O-ring between valve and tank, Cracked valve body, Loose plumbing connections, Damaged bypass seals
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Bypass the softener and depressurize by opening a nearby faucet. Unplug the unit.
- 1. Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water reappears—at the tank/valve junction, bypass, or plumbing fittings.
- 2. Tighten fittings: Gently tighten any loose threaded or union connections. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
- 3. Replace tank O-ring: If leaking at the tank/valve interface, remove the valve and replace the large O-ring with a RainSoft-approved seal. Lubricate with silicone grease.
- 4. Inspect valve body: Look for hairline cracks. If present, the entire valve must be replaced.
Warning: Do not attempt to repair a cracked pressure vessel or valve body with sealants; replace the component.
