Display shows E10 and the unit indicates high inlet pressure or safety shutoff
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: High water pressure can cause leaks or component failure. Do not bypass safety devices.
Step-by-step checks:
- 1. Measure inlet pressure: If you have a pressure gauge, connect it to a nearby tap or test point and record static pressure. Compare with Scalemaster’s specified maximum (often around 6–8 bar).
- 2. Check for pressure reducing valve (PRV): Look for a PRV installed before the softener. Ensure it is set correctly and not bypassed. If missing and pressure is high, have a plumber install one.
- 3. Inspect for booster pumps: If a booster or well pump is used, confirm its pressure settings are within the softener’s limits.
- 4. Reset the unit: After pressure is corrected, power cycle the softener and clear the error. Monitor for recurrence.
If inlet pressure is normal but E10 persists, the internal pressure sensor or PCB may be faulty and should be checked by a technician.
