Possible Causes

Intermittent flow sensor signal, Corroded or wet control board connector, Incorrect meter size setting in programming, Faulty control board on SpringWell valve head

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the softener and close the bypass valves before removing covers or disconnecting wiring.

Steps to address E02 (Flow Meter Signal Error):

  • 1. Check programming: Enter the installer menu on the SpringWell controller and verify the meter type and size (e.g., 1" turbine, 3/4" turbine) match the installed valve. Incorrect settings can cause E02 and inaccurate usage tracking.
  • 2. Inspect for moisture: Remove the control head cover and look for condensation or water intrusion around the flow meter connector and control board. Dry gently with a clean cloth and allow the board to air dry fully.
  • 3. Reseat connectors: Disconnect and reconnect the flow meter harness at both the sensor and the control board to clear oxidation. Ensure a firm, positive connection.
  • 4. Test flow indication: With power restored and unit in service, run water at a faucet and watch the display for flow rate or meter pulses. If no flow is detected but water is running, the sensor or board is faulty.
  • 5. Replace components as needed: Replace the SpringWell flow meter / turbine sensor first. If E02 persists after sensor replacement and wiring checks, replace the SpringWell electronic control head.
