Possible Causes
Failed internal capacitor or backup battery on control board, Faulty control board firmware, Repeated power interruptions or surges, Loose power adapter connection
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the power adapter from the outlet before inspecting the control head.
Steps to address E04 (Memory / Power Backup Failure):
- 1. Check power adapter: Verify the SpringWell power adapter is firmly plugged into both the outlet and the control head. Confirm the outlet has stable power (test with another device).
- 2. Reset the controller: Perform a soft reset by unplugging the unit for 5 minutes, then plugging it back in. Reprogram the time and hardness settings and observe whether they are retained after a brief power loss.
- 3. Inspect for board damage: Remove the control cover and look for bulging capacitors, burn marks, or corrosion on the control board. Any visible damage indicates the board should be replaced.
- 4. Surge protection: If your home experiences frequent surges, install a surge protector between the outlet and the SpringWell power adapter to prevent future board damage.
- 5. Replace control head: If E04 persists and settings are not retained, replace the SpringWell electronic control head, as the internal memory/backup circuit is not serviceable.
