Possible Causes

Household water pressure below SpringWell minimum spec, Clogged inlet screen on control valve, Partially closed main shutoff or bypass valve, Well pump or pressure tank issues

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Turn off power to the softener. Use caution when opening plumbing connections; relieve pressure first.

Steps to troubleshoot E09 (Low Inlet Pressure):

  • 1. Measure water pressure: Attach a pressure gauge to a nearby hose bib or faucet. Confirm that static pressure meets SpringWell's minimum requirement (typically 20–25 psi or higher).
  • 2. Check valves: Ensure the SpringWell bypass is fully in service position and that the main shutoff valve is fully open.
  • 3. Clean inlet screen: Shut off water and relieve pressure. Remove the inlet fitting or screen from the SpringWell control valve and rinse away sediment or debris. Reinstall securely.
  • 4. Inspect well system (if applicable): If you are on a well, verify that the pressure switch, pump, and pressure tank are functioning correctly. Low system pressure must be corrected before the softener can operate reliably.
  • 5. Reset error: Restore water and power, then clear the error via the control panel. If E09 returns despite adequate pressure and a clean inlet, the pressure sensing circuit in the SpringWell control head may be faulty and require replacement.
